Beach Buggin' returns to Southsea Common this weekend
BeachBuggin’, the south’s premier VW, classic, and custom car show, is returning on Sunday 10th August on Southsea Common.
A Concourse Show n’ Shine Competition with 17 different classes to enter will be one of the show’s main attractions, reeling in some of the best cars from all over the UK for entry into 17 different classes. A prize-giving and trophy-awarding ceremony will take place in the afternoon with the show itself commencing at 10:00am and concluding at 5:00pm.
There is a charge of £10.00 to display a vehicle in the Concourse Snow n’ Shine arena, or in the public display arenas, whilst entrance for pre-booked vehicles is £5.00. General public admission to the area is free.
Over the past few years, BeachBuggin’ has boasted the largest display of beach buggies in the UK, with over 50 on display. Dave Western, joint BeachBuggin’ organiser, said: “BeachBuggin’ is the ultimate VW show by the beach due to our amazing location on Southsea Common in the heart of the seafront. We are always immensely thrilled to be able to hold such a unique event in our home town.
“We are always overwhelmed by the amazing support given to us by enthusiasts, clubs, traders and the general public. The show is a fantastic celebration of all things VW for the whole family to enjoy!”
BeachBuggin’ is a not-for-profit show run by volunteers. Three quarters of the show’s profits go to charity, whilst the remaining funds are used as working capital to fund the show in the following year. All organisation and running of the show is done on a voluntary basis, and each year, the show chooses two nominated charities to support. For 2014 the selected charities are Ickle Pickles and The Rowans Hospice.
