In the bizarre headline world of Portsmouth F.C. it is! Superman Michael Appleton has been working in ridiculous conditions over the past months and has finally assembled the start of a football team for the new season. 

This must surely be another piece of historic football news for the world to register. Pompey has managed to build a near full squad of players in one day signing a group of loans and free agents ready for the season opener on Saturday against Bournemouth.

This accomplishment followed news yesterday that the league will defer the 10 point deduction that has been issued to Pompey for starting the league season in adminstration. The deduction will be added as soon as a buyer is confirmed and the club is brought out of administration.

Kieran Djilali, Mustapha Dumbuya, Jon Harley, Brian Howard, Izale McLeod, Lee Williamson, Jack Compton, Luke Rodgers and Liam Walker all signed one-month contracts at Fratton Park yesterday.

Simon Eastwood, who played in the 3-0 defeat to Plymouth in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday in a side made up largely of youth players, also signed after originally playing on a non-contract basis.

Appleton has expressed his pleasure in the signings and re-iterated that there is a great spirit in the camp and the players signed can’t wait to get playing and hopefully winning for Portsmouth F.C.
