Local Alternative Therapy – BOWEN TECHNIQUE
sheila karapetian has been practicing the art of Bowen for many years and is highly regarded as a practitioner within the local area and wider afield.
Sheila has kindly written this article to promote the health benefits of the Bowen technique. As a back sufferer myself I cannot recommend this alternative therapy highly enough.
I have seen Sheila on a few different occasions for an ongoing lower spin issue and can confirm that after a couple of meetings have not experienced and further issues.
The South Hampshire Bowen Therapists are a group of experienced Bowen practitioners who are hoping to raise awareness of this great therapy locally.
As part of their drive they are offering through out Spring a ‘three for two’ on the treatments. Please read on here for more information.

At some point in our lives many of us will suffer with back pain which
can often be very debilitating. Whilst the cause may be sudden and
acute, chronic long term back pain also presents a major problem, and
many people live with low grade back pain for years and years. With
this in mind, a local group of Bowen Therapists decided to get
together to launch a back pain project. The South Hampshire Bowen
Therapists are a group of local Bowen Therapists dedicated to raising
public awareness of the Bowen Technique and to make Bowen more widely available to the public.
The Bowen Technique is a remedial, hands-on therapy that is applied
using very gentle pressure. There is no manipulation or adjustment of
hard tissue and no force is used. Because of this, Bowen can be
considered for clients for whom other forms of therapy might be too
aggressive, forceful or invasive such as the elderly or young babies.
The practitioner uses thumbs and fingers on precise points of the body
to stimulate the muscles and soft tissue of the body. It is believed
that the Bowen Technique prompts the body to reset, repair and balance itself and clients report the experience of pain relief, improvement of function and recovery of energy. Bowen is also an holistic therapy, treating the whole person rather than just treating the named disease or condition.
The South Hampshire Bowen Therapists Group are running the project
throughout the spring, with the closing date for booking being 30th
April 2012. Treatments are offered on a three for two basis with the
third treatment being absolutely free, and all areas are covered along
the south coast from Portsmouth to Southampton and Romsey. More
information, and contact details for your local therapist can be found
on the website www.backpainproject.wordpress.com.
