Moscow State Circus returns to Portsmouth with new show ‘Zhelaniy’
The Moscow State Circus is returning to Southsea Common for the summer holidays from the 20th to the 26th August with their new production, Zhelaniy.
Zhelaniy is based on the Russian folklore story Cvetik-Semicvetik, meaning ‘the flower with seven colours’, by Benjamin Losin. Each of the petals of the titular flower represents a wish, making the story a perfectly mystic backdrop for a performance by one of the most famous circuses in the world.
Characters Wizard Wako and his sidekick Natalia Mezentceva will lead the show’s story, taking audiences on a journey to “a place where dreams come true and a place to see magnificent feats of human achievement, the likes of which have never been witnessed in Great Britain before.”
A 13-person springboard troupe will be leaping and flipping all around the big top, whilst Stynka takes to the horizontal bouncing Russian bar and Veslovskiy demonstrates some impressively nimble rollerskating skills.
Eliza Khachutryan will be doing ballet on a roof-height high-wire, while Tatiana Ozhiganova wows audiences with her daring aerial feats and Olga Rozhkovskaya keeps circus-goers on the edges of their seats with a nail-biting wirewalking display.
