Olympic Torch Relay Portsmouth Impact Dance Festival Performance
Impact Dance Festival and Rant Studios will be collaborating with young local talent to create a unique Olympic Torch Relay performance.
On Sunday 15 July at the Guildhall Square, 50 young performers will be showing off their talents by welcoming the Olympic Torch to Portsmouth in style.
The performance will be made up of street dance, live music, singing and traditional Bangladeshi dancing.
Southzone Dance Academy, Amici Dance Company, and the British Bangladesh Cultural Association have all collaborated to create the programme alongside Rant Studios.
The event is being co-ordinated by New Theatre Royal’s Liz Weston, who said:
“The young people have worked really hard to create this show, and despite the weather forecast, they are determined that the show will go on!”
The performances will begin at 5:30pm at the Guildhall Square, with organisers expecting up to 5,000 people to see the torch arrive and be handed over with a ‘kiss’ to continue its journey to Southsea Common where celebrations will continue with performances by local talent as well as Rizzle Kicks.
