Portsmouth Watersports Centre, situated on the east side of Portsea Island, is ideally located for a range of on-water activities in a safe environment for both learning and play.

The centre has all the facilities and equipment needed for a wide range of watersports and outdoor activities, including sailboats, Olympic Class Lasers, kayaks and canoes, stand-up paddle boarding, rowing, and windsurfing.

Portsmouth Watersports Centre also includes an Expressions Fitness Gym accessible to all group members during operating hours.

Learn how to sail

Welcoming instructors are on hand to ease you into the world of sailing. Whether you are a beginner or a well-seasoned sailor, Portsmouth Watersports Centre have a course for you.  All equipment and clothing needed are included. All you need to bring with you is a change of clothing, a towel, and shoes you don’t mind getting wet!

All courses provided are available over a weekend period, six evening sessions, or over four days.

Pay and play options

There’s also a pay and play option available at the centre applicable to sailboats, kayaks, wind surfing, and paddle boards, starting from as little as £10.

The centre is fully accessible to clients who have physical disabilities, including those who use wheelchairs. Many of the courses offered are suitable for people with disabilities and staff have expert experience of teaching students who have special needs. In order to ensure Portsmouth Watersports Centre are able to provide a quality course for you, please phone to discuss any specific needs.

The Centre welcomes enquiries from clubs, groups, or businesses and will be more than happy to discuss specific training or recreational requirements.

Portsmouth Watersports Centre provide all its clients with buoyancy aids, protective clothing, and wetsuits where required.


A drop-off point for guests immediately outside the main entrance. Parking is provided for visitors within 50 metres of the attraction.
