The Jolly Sailor
The Jolly Sailor is a bar and restaurant in Clarence Parade, Southsea, which is rapidly establishing an enviable reputation on the south coast for providing excellent food, top class service, and regular live entertainment.
Once known as The Westfield, the name Jolly Sailor was adopted in 1948 when a group of sailors took control of the pub. It offers a large contemporary bar decorated to a high standard with a warm and friendly atmosphere.
The gastropub offers a wide variety of food, all of which is cooked fresh on-site daily by the TJS chefs and sourced locally. A range of meats are brought in from award-winning Southsea favourites, Buckwells Butchers of Osbourne Road.
The menu has a wide range of delicious pub food, including fillet steaks and juicy burgers, with the option of seating in the restaurant area or going al fresco on one of the terraces overlooking the common. The venue includes TJS Grillhouse, which offers top-quality grilled steaks, all cooked to order.
On Sundays, TJS offers a choice of succulent roasted joints including tender cornish beef, glazed gammon, and crown of Hampshire turkey, with a choice of fresh vegetables and goose fat-roasted potatoes, lashings of home-made gravy, and all the trimmings, for the fantastic price of £7.95.
TJS is ideally situated on Clarence Parade, overlooking the common and the beach. As well as offering food and drink, the TJS is renowned across Portsmouth for offering fantastic live music and party nights for the whole family.
The Jolly Sailor also loves to host events, with function room hire for private parties and wedding receptions, and accommodation. TJS can cater for all entertainment needs. Contact the team for more detailed information and quotes.
