Portsmouth Museum Launch Easter Eggstravaganza Event That Families Will Love
From 18th to 21st April, local event movement Love Southsea are teaming up with Visit Portsmouth and Portsmouth City Museum for an Easter-themed family event with an indoor market.
The Easter Eggstravaganza — four days of fun held at Portsmouth’s main museum in Museum Road — promises to offer something for all ages.
As well as having access to all the normal free exhibitions at the museum, which currently includes an exhibition on the Tricorn Centre titled ‘Love It or Hate It?’ and permanent exhibitions ‘A Study in Sherlock’ and ‘No Place like Pompey’, people attending the new event will be able to enjoy an Easter egg hunt, indoor gift market, Easter arts and crafts, a funfair, donkey rides, Alice in Wonderland-themed giant board games and an Easter Bonnet competition including a finale parade.
The Easter bonnet competition will be judged by current mayor of Portsmouth City, Councillor Lynne Stagg, with the winning entrant being awarded a giant chocolate egg.
Louise Whitmore of Love Southsea said: “We’re looking for kids from all over the city to attend with their Easter bonnet creations. If you created something for your school or nursery this year, then bring it along to show off to the Mayor of Portsmouth. We will also have loads of craft materials at the event so you can get busy and make a prize winning entry before the judging commences on Monday.”
The Easter bonnet competition judging will take place at 1:00pm on Monday 21st April.
Project Manager for the new event, Jeeves Williams, who’s working with Portsmouth Museum said: “If you’re a local independent trader looking for an opportunity to sell your wares, get in touch!”
