QA’s Renal Team Fundraise to Improve Patient Experience
Staff from Queen Alexandra Hospital’s Renal Team have organised a range of different fundraising events to raise important funds for their Department.
Funds raised will be put towards an important ultrasound scanner and other pieces of equipment to reduce waiting times and to improve the patient experience.
The events organised include music nights, skydives, and cycle rides, all in aid of Queen Alexandra Hospital.
Sarah Kattenhorn, a Nurse Specialist for the Renal Department said, “We are raising money for an ultrasound scanner amongst many other pieces of equipment to streamline the service we are providing. Fundraising is great team building and an opportunity to give something back to the patients.”
David Penny, from Southsea has been receiving treatment for Renal failure from the Department since 2011. He said, “Renal failure runs in my family and I am fundraising because of the great care I have received.”
The Renal Team are working with Portsmouth Hospitals Charity to raise the funds. The charity supports all of the Wards and Departments across Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust and you can choose to support and fundraise for an area of the hospital that is close to your heart.
The first event is a music night on Friday 3rd February, from 7:00pm at the Rifle Club in Portsmouth. Tickets are £7 per person, with music by the Colonels, the Cortex, and the Offbeat Offensive.
Following this exciting run of events will be when 15 members of the Renal Team, patients and family take part in a sponsored skydive in Salisbury. Jump into the action on Sunday 23rd April.
In more attempts to raise money for Queen Alexandra Hospital, 21 people are taking part in 204 mile cycle ride in May.
Staff are also looking for keen cyclists to take part in an Isle of Wight cycle ride on Saturday 3rd June. This will be a 40 mile cycle from QA to St Mary’s IOW Dialysis Unit. Participants are asked to pay a £10 entry free and to raise a minimum sponsorship amount of £50 per person.
