Portsmouth Comic Con announced for Portsmouth Guildhall
Comic book and cosplay fans will be in their element following the announcement for the first ever Portsmouth Comic Con, heading to Portsmouth Guildhall in May 2018.
Portsmouth Comic Con is a collaboration between Portsmouth Guildhall and Tripwire Magazine. The weekend convention will feature guest panels, signings, exclusive genre showcases, competitions, cosplay, and merchandise.
The event will also celebrate the 80th anniversary of the first appearance of Superman, the art of HBO’s Game of Thrones, and promises to expose behind the scenes of the BBC show Doctor Who. The event promises to be the biggest event of its type in the region and will see a host of world-renowned comic book genre illustrators and celebrities in attendance.
Stars of Comic book genre confirmed so far include Tommy Lee Edwards whose work spans Batman, Hellboy, Mother Panic, and films Star Wars, Harry Potter and Batman Begins, Brazilian comic book creator Rafael Albuquerque known for his artwork on titles such as DC Comics' Blue Beetle and as illustrator and co-creator of American Vampire, Frank Quitely (Vincent Deighan) who has contributed to All-Star Superman, New X-Men and WE3, Tales of the Jedi artist Russell Walks, Mark Buckingham, Laurence Campbell, John Paul Leon, Dave Dorman, Simon Fraser, and Gene Ha. The Portsmouth Comic Con organisers have also promised a host of exciting guests yet to be confirmed.
Ticket prices range from as little as £8 and up to £28 for a full weekend pass. Under 5s are free.
