Stephanie Moon brings world-class Sky Dining event to Spinnaker Tower
This summer, Portsmouth’s most iconic landmark will be presenting a unique dining experience 100m high above the city of Portsmouth, as multi-award-winning celebrity chef Stephanie Moon presents Sky Dining at the Spinnaker Tower.
As well as offering one of the most unique dining locations in the UK, Sky Dining guests will be treated to a locally-sourced seven-course fine-dining menu which will include canapés, champagne, amuse of trout and lemon verbena, scallop, Isle of Wight crab, Hampshire South Downs lamb cutlet, Isle of Wight strawberries, peach panacea, and a selection of local teas, sweets, and chocolates to finish.
Sarah Webb, Spinnaker Tower’s General Manager, said: “Diners will be eating 100m above Portsmouth city up in the sky with unrivalled panoramic views of the south coast.
“We’re really excited to have celebrity chef Stephanie Moon joining us for these exclusive pop up dining events at the Spinnaker Tower — it’s not everyday that you can experience cooking from a chef who’s cooked for the queen!
“Diners will enjoy a seven-course taster menu, in what is a first for the tower team. We’re hopeful that this could be the start of an ongoing programme of pop-up style events from celebrity chefs at the tower.”
Multi-award-winning Stephanie Moon has been a chef for over 20 years, starting her training at the Michelin-starred Dorchester Hotel in Mayfair, London under acclaimed chef Anton Mosimann.
She went on to work in some of the finest hotels and restaurants across the world, including five-star hotel Park Hyatt in Sydney and Charlie Trotter’s Michelin-starred Chicago restaurant before returning to her Yorkshire roots to become Executive Head Chef at luxury hotel Rudding Park in Harrogate.
Steph cemented her celebrity chef status on BBC2’s Great British Menu, representing the North East for three consecutive years on the popular culinary competition.
Stephanie said: “It’s the old adage: ‘you can’t make something good out of something bad’, and I honestly think that the produce we’ll be offering during these events is exceptional. The quality of the locally-sourced fish, the Hampshire lamb, and all the vegetables is what it’s all about.
“I really love what I do and when you’ve got good quality food it’s easy to cook something memorable.
“The beauty of Portsmouth is it’s just such a friendly place and with so much history that you can really feel when you start looking around — especially from 100m in the sky! Portsmouth is a hugely important city in Great Britain’s history.”
All the food sourced for the special event has been carefully sourced from the surrounding area, utilising the best of seasonal produce:
- Portsmouth-based Johnson’s Enterprises will provide Solent mackerel, Isle of Wight crab, and Solent sea bass
- Southsea butchers Buckwells will provide belly or pork and South Downs lamb
- Romsey based Chalk Stream Foods will supply some of the UK’s richest and leanest trout
- Isle of Wight ice cream supplier Minghella will be providing deliciously cool Limoncello sorbet
Sky Dining with Stephanie Moon starts at the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth’s Gunwharf Quays on Friday 22nd July and runs until Friday 12th August 2016. Availability is limited.
